Zombina and the Skeletones - I Was a Human Bomb for
the F.B.I.
By Marcus Pan
Keep it simple stupid! Garage sensibility. Easy to understand
lyrics. Straight and no nonsense music. And a really cute goth chick in a
skirt. That's all it takes sometimes, and in Liverpool returning to the
proverbial roots is almost predictably expected. Five twenty somethings have
banded together in a dark musty garage in Liverpool and started a blasphemous
journey into the rock'n'roll and horror world Zombina and the
Skeletones. They started it off with Taste the Blood of Zombina & the
Skeletones in 2003 simple idea, simple title, simple music.
Sometimes simplicity sells. Who needs polish when the rest
of the world looks like shit anyway? What's the diff? None, apparently, as
Zombina and crew shred through such punk rock slams as I Was a Human Bomb
for the F.B.I., the expected I Love Rock 'n' Roll and Punk Rock
Vampires: Destroy! on their precursor 3 track demo to an upcoming EP. They
are of course also working on a horror movie (zombies, what do you expect?),
throwing explosives about and looking cute (at least for Zombina, anyway).
Simple, fun, fluffy and catty. Zombina and the Skeletones
can be just as interesting as Johnny Rotten returning to the stage.
Splatterpunk at its most raw. Give it a shot and do the pogo for a solid dose
of silliness when the seriousness of your life weights you down.
