Alone

By Jaken Steele

Love has passed me by again today
I walk the world alone
I ask myself why

I see before me a road
Rocky and long with no hope
Going on seems so pointless

I sit by the side to rest
T elling myself I won't go on
Yet I pick myself up again

Step by step I move along
Hoping each will be my last
I don't want to be lonely anymore

My façade is permanent
I wear a thousand and one masks
I can't reveal my true self

Until I let myself out of prison
Until I throw away my masks
I shall remain as I always have…alone
