Life's End

By Jaken Steele

I sit at the dawn of the day
Bathed in total solitude
Six empty bottles sit in front of me
One empty life that is mine
Outside the birds are singing
Their song as meaningless as my existence
It feels useless to go on
For I am always…alone
What is life without love, nothing
For there is no love without life
I have done all I can do
There is no more to give
And as my life slowly fades away
I feel no remorse or pity for myself
I feel only the emptiness that is my friend
And all I can do is say good-bye.
