Ability Scores

By Marcus Pan

Following hereafter are modified rules to generate character ability scores. I have done away with all racial limitations as they over-complicate matters.

These new charts allow for scores up to 25, although gaining a score over 18 is difficult. Scores over 18 are detailed in Deities and Demigods, p. 6-7.

If a character being generated is a direct descendant of a character with an exceptional ability score(s) (over 19), then this character has a better chance of scoring an exceptional score for that ability only (due to genetics). The Exceptional Scores chart should then be used only for the appropriate abilities.

When placing scores (other than scores for exceptional descendant's abilities), roll a D6 and consult the Ability Table. If the rolled ability is already scored, continue rolling until the die designates an unscored ability.

Some questioning and even some apathy has been expressed for the new rules and charts on the generation of ability scores. This system was designed specifically for Inferno's campaign. Its purpose is to help give characters an extra edge over the forces of Albinor. It is one of the few methods I have to help you, dear player, so why let my efforts go to waste?

However, it is optional and the standard (3D6) generation may be used if you so desire.
