Privacy Policy
Legends Online realizes that Internet privacy is on
everyone's mind these days. Since Legends Online does collect certain
information about visitors to the site, we want our visitors to be aware of how
this information is collected, what it is used for and how to change or correct
it. This portion of the legal policies serves to disclose this information.
1. What information does Legends Online gather and
track?
Legends Online gathers two types of data about visitors:
data that visitors provide through voluntary, optional registration and
collective tracking information derived mainly by server log files. This
information enables us to better design our site to deliver the sort of
information that our visitors are looking for. Some of the ways in which
Legends Online may gather or collect data for the above purposes is as
follows:
E-Mail Registrations: Some areas of Legends Online
and affiliated sites offer a subscription-based e-mail newsletter. A valid
e-mail address is required for delivery of this newsletter. This is purely
voluntary on each visitor's behalf and unsubscribes are handled immediately,
typically within 48 hours. Any e-mail newsletters that one may join from
Legends is done on a purely "opt-in" basis.
Usage Tracking: Legends Online tracks the path that
each user takes through the site, but does not associate this information with
data collected from individual users. This information is used solely to track
the most popular sections of the site in order to better tailor the site to the
needs of our visitors. Legends Online may sort this collective information by
domain name, browser type, operating system type, MIME types, keywords used in
search engines, city and country and files requested for the purpose of
demographics; this information is never associated with individual users and is
purely anonymous aggregate statistical information.
Cookies: A cookie is a small text file that your
browser writes to your hard drive when a site requests that it do so. A cookie
does not allow a web site to access files on your hard drive other than the
cookie file itself and then only the information that is written by that
particular web site can be accessed. Some of Legends Online's World Wide Web
servers may use cookies to apply to the anonymous statistic information as
shown above and it is never user-centric. This is done so that we can better
determine what areas are visited more often by repeat visitors and provide the
type of services in those areas that visitors would like. You can set your
browser to warn you before accepting a cookie. You do not need to accept any
cookies sent by Legends Online in order to use the site. They can be refused by
a setting in your browser.
2. What does Legends Online do with collected
information?
As mentioned in section 1, Legends Online uses information
provided voluntarily from our visitors for the purpose of distributing some
electronic newsletters. Legends Online never shares any personal information
collected from its newsletter registration with any other party.
Legends Online tracks the path of each user through the
site, but for the purpose of determining the most popular areas and the weak
points of the site. Usage information is never viewed on an individual basis,
and is never collated with individual user information that is collected from
the electronic newsletter registration or from any other source, online or
offline.
3. How is this information stored?
All volunteered information is typically stored on our main
office system and server. No information is ever divulged in any manner to any
other party and can be accessed only by Marcus Pan and his server
administrator(s). Site tracking information is stored on Legends Online's
server and is only accessible by Marcus Pan and our server
administrator(s).
4. Do I have to volunteer any information to use Legends
Online?
No. Every visitor has the option of supplying information to
Legends Online or not. Registration for our newsletters is appreciated, but not
required. All portions of Legends Online is available whether you provide
information about yourself or not. All services Legends Online offers are done
on an "opt-in" basis only - that is you must request it specifically.
5. Can I correct or update any information that I
submit?
Yes. Any user wanting to change an address on the Legends
Online e-mail newsletter may mail the webmaster at
marcus@legendsmagazine.net.
6. Can any information that I supply be removed?
Yes. E-mail list membership can be discontinued at a user's
request by writing to the webmaster,
marcus@legendsmagazine.net.
7. What does Legends Magazine do with non-web site contact
and similar information?
Legends Magazine maintains a contact database of labels,
bands, individuals, partners, authors, etc. for the main purpose of providing
mailings to those submitters and other partners and to maintain communication
for business purposes. Legends will never sell or divulge this information to
any other third party. Legends may use our own contact database to notify
individuals, labels and/or bands of upcoming specials, events or other
materials specific to Legends Magazine.
Adult Content
While Legends Online and its affiliated sites are not, by
any means, "porn," or whatever interestingly fearful name you might have
dreamed up for "porn" since last I've heard, it is considered an adult site.
Use of adult language, occasional content that may be considered racy and
off-color and similar themes are regularly expressed throughout. Most of the
racier items are marked for adults only, but there are some instances where
content can spill into adult themes without warning. With this we ask that
users be considered legal adults in their areas of residency when perusing
Legends Online and some of its affiliate sites.
Reprinted Content
Some areas of Legends Online, mostly older archives of
Legends Magazine and some Pan Pages areas, may contain reprinted material. The
amount in the archives when Legends Online went live on the World Wide Web made
it impossible to contact all the parties associated with these reprinted items.
Therefore if any item contained within Legends Online is found to be
copyrighted or otherwise owned by a visitor, we will respect that individual's
request to remove such content upon receipt of definitive information proving
such copyright holdings and/or a legal cease & desist letter.
